A Quick Guide To Mental Health.

A lot of clients come to me because conventional methods haven’t worked for them. Conventional methods do work-I’m not saying they don’t-but it wasn’t until I started learning outside of the conventional paradigm that I began to think about Mental Health and therapy in a new way. As I thought about creating a method that creates a mindset for faster results and greater satisfaction with the process and results, I knew holistic mental health was the missing piece that needed to be incorporated at every level of the therapeutic process. Something that takes the best of wisdom, science, the body and the mind to support you in being the most fulfilled, elevated expression of you.

Mental Health Conditions.

Depression.

Depression can be mild, moderate or severe. It can be chronic, recurring or a single episode. Depression, despite how hopeless a person may feel when they are experiencing it, is treatable. In therapy the root causes of your depression should be assessed to determine the most effective treatment options for you. Holistic Therapy approaches are often very useful in treating depression effectively because it can help with changing the physiology and brain patterns that occur with depression.

Anxiety, OCD and Phobias.

There are different types such as Generalized Anxiety Disorders, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder or Phobias but the underlying mechanism and physiology is the same. Anxiety Disorders are very common types of disorders and they are very treatable. In therapy the root causes of the disorder should be evaluated to determine the more effective treatment options for your unique mind and body profile.

Panic Attacks.

Panic Attacks may occur randomly or be triggered by certain things or events. They can happen at any time of day, including during sleep. Often people who suffer from panic attacks develop a type of phobia about panic attacks, which can become overwhelming. The good news is panic attacks are treatable. Once the root causes of the panic attacks are determined, you will be given tools and strategies to help you reprogram your mind-body feedback loop.

Insomnia.

Insomnia disorders and sleep can impact your energy, mood, and ability to function in your life. Luckily insomnia is very treatable. An assessment will be done to find the sources of your insomnia. Once we address the underlying causes of the insomnia you can finally have some rest and relief.

Addiction.

Sometimes the line can become blurry between an obsession and an addiction. In therapy you can sort out which one it may be. The more damaging it is to your life, the more likely it is closer to the addiction end of the spectrum. Either way they are both types of attachments and you can learn to decrease your attachments. You can change the brain patterns that reinforce addiction.

ADHD.

Feeling judged negatively as a dreamer, slacker, troublemaker, a bad student or a bad employee is a common experience for people who have ADHD. Most people don’t understand that for people with ADHD feeling confined, repetitive work, and feeling bored are often painful challenges and daily struggles. Understanding your unique brain wiring on the other hand, can not only help you mitigate those challenges but can help you thrive by learning to use the strengths of your unique brain wiring.

Issues with Sex and Sexuality.

Sex and Sexuality are two of the most natural experiences in the world. Sadly, they are also the topic that cause the most pain, anxiety and shame. Sex therapy is an exploration of our relationship to sex, sexuality and intimacy. It can include explorations of the social and political context of our sex lives. It is a place where the anxiety and disconnection from one’s self and one’s body that is often at the heart of sexual dysfunction gets addressed. And it’s done in a way that is judgement free, safe and honors your cultural, religious and sexual preferences.

Grief and Loss.

Grief is the emotional suffering you feel when something or someone you love is taken away. Regardless of the type of loss, the emotional and even sometimes physical pain that can happen when we experience grief can be overwhelming. There can be a roller coaster of emotions and it might even become difficult to function in the ways that you used to. We can’t avoid grief but with can deal with it in a conscious, tender way. To explore it’s meaning in a way that makes life deeper, more eloquent and more purposeful.
